Matt Schneider was elected as the Gymnastics WA President in April 2022 after serving as an elected Board Director of Gymnastics WA in October 2020. In addition, Matt previously chaired the Finance, Audit and Risk Management Committee at Gymnastics WA prior to being elected as President. Matt is the Chief Technology Officer at Idoba and was previously the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Optika Solutions, an Australian software product and solutions development company for 15 years. Matt brings to the President’s role significant experience in finance, risk and a wealth of knowledge in the governance of gymnastics in Western Australia, with a passion to continue the growth of the sport across the state.

Sarah Marshman, Legal Counsel at MDA National was re-elected as Vice President of Gymnastics WA in April 2022. Sarah has served on the Gymnastics WA Board since December 2018, as a Non-Executive Director prior to being elected as the Vice-President in August 2020 and brings a wealth of knowledge in legal, compliance, insurance and risk management and proven invaluable as a Director since her appointment. Sarah was a former Rhythmic athlete and member of the Rhythmic Gymnastics Technical Committee and currently sits on the Governance and Nominations sub-committee at Gymnastics WA.

       

    EVA KIERATH

Eva Kierath was elected to the Gymnastics WA Board in 2020. Eva has represented Australia in Trampolining, having an illustrious and successful career as a gymnast, most notably winning the 2016 Australian National Championships, competing in the 2015, 2017, 2018 & 2019 World Championships and numerous World Cup events. Eva began gymnastics at the age of two, starting in KinderGym before progressing and taking up trampolining at the age of 12, training at Peak Trampoline. Eva is an astute professional, with an established career as a dentist and brings an invaluable athlete, judge and coaching perspective to the Board and is highly respected in the gymnastics community.

       
      NATALIE MILNE

Natalie Milne was elected to the Gymnastics WA Board in April 2022. Natalie is an experienced and highly credentialed Chartered Accountant at BDO Perth, a member firm of a large global Accounting firm. Natalie is currently the Practice Group Leader for Tax and has significant experience in strategy development, budgets, people management as well as setting and implementing risk management procedures. Natalie brings a wealth of Board Governance experience, currently sitting on the BDO Perth Risk Committee and is a member of the National BDO Tax Committee. In addition, Natalie previously sat on the Commercialisation Studies Centre Board, a University of Western Australia start up between 2019 – 2021. Natalie has also completed the Company Director’s Course through the Australian Institute of Company Director’s.

       
      MERRILEE NEEDHAM

Professor Merrilee Needham was elected as a Board Director of Gymnastics WA in April 2021. Merrilee is a Neurologist at the Fiona Stanley Hospital, and is passionate about improving patient care through research. Merrilee is also employed as the Foundation Chair of Neurology, Director of Research for the South Metropolitan Health Service, co-joint Leader of the Neurosciences Network in the Department of Health and finally the Head of Neuromuscular Research at the Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Research. Outside of her substantial medical career, Merrilee is a mother of three boys who participate in Men's Artistic and Trampoline Gymnastics at High Flyers Trampoline & Gymnastics Academy. Merrilee joined the Gymnastics WA Board with a passion in positively influencing strategy and planning for the future of Gymnastics in Western Australia.

       
    NATASHA OGONOWSKI

Natasha Ogonowski was elected to the Gymnastics WA Board in April 2021. Natasha brings a with a wealth of experience in leading strategy, commercial, program and project management in the energy and water sectors. Natasha is a strategic creative thinker with a positive approach to leading and empowering people. Natasha is an experienced director in the Not-For-Profit sector and graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is the current Chair of Holy Spirit Primary School and past Company Secretary and Non-Executive Director of the Petroleum Club of Western Australia and the Western Australia Club. Natasha has two young daughters currently participating in Women's Artistic Gymnastics at Star-Mites Gym Sports and the Gymnastics WA WAG High Performance Program. Natasha is passionate about supporting and giving back to the sport that is developing her children to not only be talented gymnasts but more importantly confident and well-rounded young ladies.

       
      BHAVEEK SAVADIA

Bhaveek Savadia was appointed to the Board of Gymnastics WA in December 2021. Bhaveek is an MBA qualified, Finance Director of the GBI Group with over 20 years’ experience in corporate finance, leadership and strategic financial management with added experience in owning and turning around small businesses. Bhaveek possesses a strong technical ability in accounting and corporate governance with a high-level of business acumen. He brings a wealth of experience to Gymnastics WA’s Board of Directors. Bhaveek has astute knowledge in corporate governance; practices of directorship and demonstrated experience in overseeing organisational performance and compliance. He has a son and a daughter who actively participate in the sport of Gymnastics at Northern Districts Gymnastics Club. Bhaveek’s experience on the Board of GBI Holdings; combined with his corporate network; diligence and breadth of experience in financial function will be an asset to the Gymnastics WA community moving forward.

       
      DEAN BURTON

Dean Burton was appointed to the Gymnastics WA Board in March 2022. Dean has extensive experience in board governance and leadership roles at a State Sporting Association level through his roles of Deputy Chairman, Baseball WA for a five-year period and the Chief Executive Officer, Softball WA for two and a half years. He has over 15 years’ experience across Local and State Government, specialising in facilities management and major infrastructure projects. Dean has a strong working knowledge and experience in all facets of board governance particularly in the sporting sector including roles and responsibilities, strategic planning, risk, financial management, policy and stakeholder management. Dean’s current role is the Coordinator Recreation Services at the City of Cockburn where he is responsible for the team that oversees facilities including 14 community centres and 26 sporting reserves.

       
      ADDY WETZLER

Addy Wetzler was appointed to the Gymnastics WA Board in March 2022. Addy is an experienced leader of high performing multi-disciplinary teams, with over 13 years’ experience in strategic partnerships, fundraising and philanthropy in the not-for-profit sector. Addy has a proven track record of achieving sustainable revenue growth and multi-million-dollar targets at charitable organisations such as Youth Focus, Cancer Council WA and Very Special Kids. Addy’s current role as Manager, Philanthropy and Partnerships at Youth Focus and previously Cancer Council WA has provided significant experience in strategic oversight of fundraising programs, corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations. Addy has a strong understanding of best-practice commercial strategies, value proposition and brings a vast corporate network of contacts within the Western Australia business community. Addy was previously a Board Director in Victoria and is a current Board Director of Hannah’s House. In addition he is a sub-committee member of Maurice Zeffert Home and WA State Committee Member of the Fundraising Institute of Australia.
