Wrap Up Article

The dust has now settled after what was a fantastic two weekends of Gymnastics in Western  Australia, spanning across two venues, the State Gymnastics Centre and Lords Recreation Centre. Across our six participating Gymsport – Men’s & Women’s Artistic, Rhythmic, Aerobic, Trampoline and Acrobatic Gymnastics, we saw 1205 athletes compete with over 2000 spectators through the doors to watch what was another successful Go for 2&5 Western Australian Junior Gymnastics Championships.

Starting with a bang at the State Gymnastics Centre on Thursday 10th October, the ACR Level 4 and 3A Pairs and Trios provided the perfect introduction to the cheering crowd leading into the weekends ahead.

The Women’s Artistic Gymnastics sessions followed, beginning on Friday and continuing on throughout both weekends showcasing National Level 3-6 and State Level 3 – Open athletes where we witnessed over 700 routines.

Jumping over to the Lords Recreation Centre, our Tumbling, Trampoline, Double Mini and Synchro athletes got to put all their hard work on display over a 2 day spectacular as the spectators got an up close view of the Level 3-6 athletes.

And with their high energy, up beat routines our AER Level 3-5 and Aerodance athletes got the crowd clapping to beat in excitement as they closed week 1 of the event and prepared for the weekend to come.

Week 2 was joined by our Rhythmic Gymnastics Athletes represented across 3 Gymnastics WA Clubs. With their elegance and power the Level 3-8, Stages 1-2 and multiples dazzled the audience.

Bringing the event to a close was the Men’s Artistic Gymnasts, as our State Level 2-5 and National Level 4 -6 athletes wowed the crowd with their strength and hard work. A truly amazing end to the jam-packed competition it has been.

To capture these incredible moments were photographers from Sports Imagery Australia who were present at every session across the competition. Make sure to check out www.sportsimagery.com.au as there are some fantastic deals available for Gymnastics WA members, making the perfect gift.

This competition was truly like no other, with activities, giveaways and so much more on offer there was something for everyone! With giant games such as Jenga, snakes and Ladder and twister with the Freedom Fairies face painting and Encore Kids Parties activities the venue turned into a children’s playground. Providing Chobani Yoghurts, Delish Ice icy poles and Boost, there was always something delicious close by. GKD Gymnastics and Dance supplied the glitz and the glam selling all things gymnastics throughout the competition whilst Prime Trophies where available to engrave the awards of the competition Medalists.

To wrap up the Go for 2&5 WA Junior Gymnastics Championships we would like congratulate all of our athletes of their hard work and sportsmanship through the competition as well as to thank all the judges and volunteers, both behind the scenes in the lead up and on the competition floor at the event. A final thank you must go to our valued partners; Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, Healthway: Go for 2&5 and Lotterywest.
